How to Change Your YouTube Channel Name

Log in to your YouTube account
Initially, log in to your YouTube account from the browser or the YouTube app. Ensure you sign in with your Google account to update your YouTube channel name.
Click on channel icon
Go to your profile photo in the top right corner, click on the “view Your channel” option
Choose a customized channel
After clicking your channel, go to “Customize Channel”, which will land you directly in YouTube Studio to change your YouTube channel name.
Go to the profile tab
By default, it’s on the profile tab. Scroll down here, and you can see the channel name, handle, and many more. To change the name, click the pencil icon to edit it and update it to the desired name.
Save all the changes, and the process of changing your YouTube channel name is completed here. After changing your name on YouTube, give it some time to update.

How to change the YouTube channel Handle
- Handle is a unique username that starts with @.
- Every YouTube channel has a unique username that helps identify it.
- To change the handle, click on the pencil icon and type your new handle below the Name tab; you will also see the Handle tab appear.
- Ensure the handle is unique.

Note: If you want to edit your YouTube channel name and handle, it’s best to update your handle first. Sometimes, the handle you have chosen may already be taken by someone else. Please select a unique handle, then create a username based on it to make the process easier. Because if you choose a name first, then the handle could be the same; it’s scarce.
A name and handle could change twice in 14 days.
For Mobile use
- Log in to your YouTube account
- Go to the Profile icon at the bottom right of the screen
- Click on your Name mentioned there
- Go to the pencil icon next to Manage videos below the channel name
- Here are the options, such as name and handle, that can be modified by clicking on the pencil icon.
- Save changes
