How to deactivate Instagram account to take a break
In the steps below – I would provide steps for both Temporary deactivation and Permanant deletion of Instagram.
Temporary Deactivation
With a Temporary deactivation, people would see your account deactivated, and no one would be able to contact you. You can restore your Instagram anytime you wish. To temporarily deactivate your Instagram account, see the steps below:
- Open the Instagram app > Settings > Account Center.
- Click Personal Details in the menu.
- Click Account Ownership and Control.
- Select “Deactivation or deletion”.
- Click Deactivate account.
By clicking Deactivate account, you can just sign in back again and the account should activate whenever you wish.
Permanant Deletion of an Instagram account
Deleting an Instagram account means permanently removing it from Instagram—your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes, followers, and username are erased after a short grace period, and you can’t restore the account once deletion is completed. If you only need a break, choose deactivation instead, which hides your profile temporarily and can be undone by logging back in.
