How to remove whatsapp contacts
This article serves as a handy guide in case you want to remove WhatsApp contacts or a specific contact that is synced to your Contact list.
What is WhatsApp
WhatsApp is a widely used messaging application for smartphones. It allows you to send text messages, share files, and make voice or video calls using your phone’s internet connection, rather than relying on your mobile carrier’s text or calling plan. WhatsApp is available across devices, i.e., Windows, Android, and iOS. Links are below:

Contacts in WhatsApp Application
WhatsApp does not maintain its own separate contact list. Instead, it reads and syncs with the main address book or Contacts app on your phone. If a person saved in your phone’s contacts also has an active WhatsApp account, they will automatically appear in your WhatsApp contact list.
How to remove WhatsApp contacts or edit them
To remove a contact from WhatsApp, you must delete that person from your phone’s main Contacts app. You can also delete a Contact from WhatsApp itself. See the subheading below:
- Open your phone’s default Contacts (or ‘People’) app.
- Find the contact you wish to remove and delete their entry.
- After deleting them from your phone, open WhatsApp.
- Tap the new chat icon, then tap the three-dot menu, and select Refresh.
